Publishing Matchmaker Program Instructions & Next Steps

Below are instructions and the link to the portal where you can submit your work.

PUBLISHING MATCHMAKER next steps:

  1. Get your submission ready! You'll submit a 20-page manuscript sample, as well as an optional query letter and synopsis. Please be sure to follow the manuscript formatting requirements (below).

  2. Visit the Agent list on the TBR website to make a list of the agents you think would be a good fit for your work. This is your "Agent Wishlist." You'll select these agents in the portal when you submit your materials.

  3. When you're ready, click here to submit your materials and Agent Wishlist by the November 1st deadline

  4. TBR will contact you by the end of November to tell you how many agents on your Agent Wishlist rated your manuscript with a 4-star or 5-star rating (this is called a “double-match”). We’ll also tell you how many agents rated you highly who were NOT on your Agent Wishlist – this is called a “single match,” and can be just as valuable to you. No agent names will be given out at this stage.

  5. Once you know how many TBR agents are enthusiastic about your work, YOU get to decide how many meetings with them you’d like to purchase, and from which list. They’re $195 apiece, and you can purchase just one or many. All meetings will take place in person and onsite at TBR, for 20 minutes each.

  6. After submitting payment, we’ll send you the list of agents you’ll be meeting with. They’ll get to work reviewing your entire submission (20-page manuscript sample and optional query letter and synopsis), to discuss with you in person at TBR. We'll send you your exact meeting time(s) as the conference nears.

Manuscript Formatting Requirements:

  1. Double-spaced

  2. 12-point Times New Roman font

  3. Numbered pages, with your name in the upper righthand corner.

  4. Please name this document: "[YourLastName]Sample." Example: "SteinbeckSample."

  5. If you're submitting a query letter and synopsis (which is optional, but we recommend), please use the same naming convention, i.e. "[YourLastName]Synopsis" and "[YourLastName]Query."

Thank you!
