Jordan Hill is a Literary Agent at New Leaf Literary and Media. Jordan is primarily pursuing genre and upmarket fiction for adults with a focus on SFF and horror. Whether through relationships, plot, or conflict, books on her list often address the question: all hope is lost, what now? She loves intergenerational stories that grapple with the complexities of families and culture through time and anything with an unreliable narrator or a speculative bent. She’s always on the hunt for books that feature female wit and rage, bodies of water as foreboding, and eruptive moments of catharsis. She also considers historical fiction or retellings with a fresh approach and compelling perspective.

Jordan is looking for:
“I'm looking for manuscripts that feature a strong voice and immediately compelling plot where the stakes are evident. Hope--or lack thereof--is a big theme that draws me in. I gravitate towards darkness in a narrative and I'm not always looking for a happy ending or a conclusion that's neatly tied with a bow. I want to explore something new alongside the characters whether it be a silent copse thrumming with magic or a seemingly-quaint town where something nefarious is afoot. More specifically, I'm currently on the hunt for manuscripts that heavily feature the ocean or survivalism through the lens of horror. If I'm taking a look at historical fiction, the further back in time, the better. It's also important to note that while I do consider contemporary fiction, it needs to have a speculative bent.”

She is not currently interested in:
“I'm not looking for true crime, procedurals, or detective stories (inclusive of FBI, CIA, etc.). And I'm not the right fit for slashers, books about sports, or books that have romance as the main driver of the story.”

Examples of books Jordan currently represents:
“There are many that haven't yet been announced that I'd love to share, but some books by authors I represent and very much align with my tastes are: When Among Crows by Veronica Roth, Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel, and Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy Snyder.”
