Ariele Fredman
Ariele Fredman came to UTA from Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, where she was most recently Deputy Director of Publicity and Marketing, working across genres to launch bestselling campaigns for blockbuster authors such as Colleen Hoover, Lisa Jewell, Jennifer Weiner, Fredrik Backman, Rebecca Serle, Zakiya Dalila Harris, and Janet Evanovich. She has worked in publishing for 15+ years, and in that time has launched over 50 New York Times Best Sellers, including eight number-one books. Her mission at UTA is to help build author careers in the long term, drawing on her unique understanding of the publishing landscape and what drives readers to both buy and then talk about their favorite books. She has a BA in Comparative Literature and Sociology from Emory University, and lives in New York with her family.
Ariele is looking for:
I’m looking for books that will make me cry and laugh (if possible), but crying is always great, in any genre. Breaking my heart and making it whole is welcomed. I love a genre-plus book, like a romance with a ghost involved, or a family drama that also includes a sweeping love story. If any of these books explore a tough issue that's of the moment, even better. On the non-fiction side, sociological exploration can work for me, or something that speaks to my millenial mother self also works. I would love to find an author like Catherine Newman to add to my list!
Ariele is not interested in:
Really out there sci-fi that isn't grounded doesn't work for me. Something that makes me work really hard to get into the plot or an understanding of what the book is trying to do will also not work for me at the moment.
Examples of books she currently represents:
IMMORTAL CONSEQUENCES by I.V. Marie
FAMOUS LAST WORDS by Gillian McAllister
THE ART OF VANISHING by Morgan Pager
